How it works

Base64 represents binary data with 64 printable characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /). Your text is first encoded as UTF-8 bytes, then every 3 bytes become 4 Base64 characters, so the result is about 33% longer. “=” padding completes the last group. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption: anyone can decode it.

FAQ

Why does the result differ from another site?

Usually because of the text encoding: this tool uses UTF-8, the web standard. Old tools sometimes use Latin-1, which gives different results for accented characters.
