How it works
Each line shows the offset (position in the file, in hexadecimal), 16 bytes in hexadecimal, and the same bytes as ASCII characters (non-printable bytes as a dot). Only 4 KB is read at a time, so even multi-gigabyte files open instantly. The search scans the file in chunks for text (UTF-8) or a hex byte sequence.
