How it works
KadiTools reads the file's signature (magic bytes) to detect its real format, then parses its headers: PNG IHDR for bit depth and color type, JPEG SOF for progressive/baseline encoding and chroma subsampling, JFIF/pHYs for DPI, and animation chunks for GIF, APNG and WebP. The SHA-256 fingerprint is computed with the Web Crypto API.
FAQ
Why does the format differ from the extension?
Files are sometimes renamed (a WebP saved as .jpg, for example). The detected format is what the file really contains.
What is chroma subsampling?
JPG stores color at lower resolution than brightness. 4:2:0 is the most common and smallest; 4:4:4 keeps full color detail.
