How it works

Images can carry several kinds of metadata: EXIF (camera settings, GPS), XMP (edit history, ratings, Adobe data), IPTC (captions, copyright, keywords used by news agencies), an ICC profile (color space) and format-specific blocks like JFIF or PNG text chunks. KadiTools lists the file's structure and decodes each block locally.

FAQ

What is XMP?

An XML-based metadata format from Adobe. Editing apps store ratings, keywords, edit history and sometimes GPS in it.

Should I remove the ICC profile?

Usually not: it tells viewers how to display colors. Removing it from a wide-gamut photo (like Display P3 from iPhones) can make colors look duller.
