How it works
KadiTools decodes your BMP file in the browser, draws it onto an in-memory canvas and encodes it again as JPG. BMP files are uncompressed, so the converted file is usually many times smaller.
JPG is the most widely supported photo format: every phone, browser, email client and printing service opens it, and it keeps photos small. Use the quality slider to trade file size against detail: 85–92% is visually identical to the original for most photos. Because JPG can't store transparency, transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick.
FAQ
Is my BMP uploaded to a server?
No. The whole conversion happens in your browser using the Canvas API; the file never leaves your device.
Will converting to JPG reduce quality?
JPG is a lossy format, so a little detail is discarded. At 90% quality the difference is very hard to see; raise it to 100% for maximum fidelity.
Is there a size limit?
There's no artificial limit. Very large images (above roughly 50 megapixels) may be slow or fail on phones because of browser memory limits.
