SHA Hash Generator

Generate a SHA hash of your text. SHA-256 is selected by default.

🔒 Your data is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers.

How it works

Your text is encoded as UTF-8 and passed to your browser's built-in Web Crypto digest(). A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint: the same input always gives the same output, and changing a single character (including a trailing newline) changes it completely.

Security notes

Hashing is not encryption: it can't be reversed to get the text back. And a plain fast hash is not suitable for storing passwords; use a slow password-hashing scheme such as PBKDF2, bcrypt or Argon2 instead.

FAQ

Why is there no MD5?

MD5 isn't part of the Web Crypto API, and it is broken for security anyway. KadiTools only offers algorithms that run natively in your browser.

Can I hash a file?

Yes, use the File Hash Generator.
